2003-2004 Indoor Swim Program

The Maloney High School pool's schedule follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 6:30-7:45PM
Saturdays and Sundays: 12noon-3:45PM
(for daily updates, call 630-4279)

Note: In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday,
the pool is not open on November 26, 27, 29, and 30!

All interested participants must possess a valid 2003
pool pass. A pass costs $5.00 for adults and $1.00
for children ages 17 and under; they are good for
the calendar year in which they are purchased.
To receive a pass, potential recipients must bring,
in-person, proof of Meriden residency to the office of
Meriden Parks and Recreation, 460 Liberty St, 630-4259

Tuesdays, November 2003 - April 13, 2004

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program

Organized recreational volleyball games for adults ages 18
and older takes place at Lincoln Middle School from 6-9PM.
Registration, including payment of a one-time $20 processing
fee, can be done on any night the program is in session.
Participants are asked to park in the school's rear lot and
use the back entrance during construction. The program
will not run, however, on school holidays and snow days.

Meriden Men's Basketball League

Team registrations for the 2003-2004 teams are being accepted.
Entrance fee is $450.00 per team. Games are played weekday nights
except Fridays beginning December through March. Please contact:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, November 6th - 25th, 2003

2003 Turkey Hunt

Tom the Turkey is hiding somewhere in Meriden, hoping to survive the
Thanksgiving season without being discoverd. Children ages 5-13 are
invited to locate Tom's whereabouts by using clues given on the Parks
and Recreation activity line (630-4279) which are updated every Tuesday
and Thursday. Bonus clues will be given on City of Meriden TV, Chnnl 14.
The first child to find Tom and return him to the Parks/Rec office will
receive a Thanksgiving turkey and other prizes. Happy hunting / be safe.

Bob Fowler and the Appalachian Trail

Meriden Public Library opens its travel series at 2:00pm
with an account of a trip along the Appalachian Trail by
Meriden resident Bob Fowler. Everyone's invited to attend.
The event, which is free, is one in a yearlong series of
special programs and exhibits in celebration of the library's

Meriden Public Library hosts a literary lunchbox today at noon.
Katherine Valentine, author of A Miracle for St Cecilia's and

Financial Aid And College Admissions Workshop

Meriden Public Library hosts a free workshop on the college
admissions process and the fundamentals of financial aid for
both students and parents at 7:00pm, tonight. Brenda White,
assistant director of Connecticut Talent Assistance Cooperative
Educational Opportunity Center, will be the guest speaker.
This free event is one in a yearlong series of special programs
and exhibits in celebration of the library's Centennial.

Veterans Day Ceremony

The City of Meriden and the Meriden United Veterans Council is holding
this year's Veterans Day Ceremony at Stop and Shop Veterans Plaza
(across from the Broad Street monuments) starting at 10:30AM, today.
The UVC welcomes contingents of the Meriden Police Departments,
public/parochial schools, and neighborhood associations. All Meriden
residents are invited and encouraged to show their appreciation
to those who have given so much in protecting our freedom.

Meriden Public Library hosts a wellness program called
'Making Life Easier For Seniors' at 7:00pm, tonight.

Copies Of 'Wife of the Chef' Autographed

Meriden Public Library will host a special appearance by
Courtney Febbroriello, author of 'Wife of the Chef', at
7:00pm this evening. She is co-owner of Metro Bis, a
restaurant located in Simsbury that was recognized by
Connecticut Magazine as one of the top thirty in the state.
The booksigning is free and the public is invited to attend.

Festival of Silver Lights

This year's festivities kick off with a special lighting
ceremony at Hubbard Park. The event features entertainment,
music, costume characters, refreshments, and the opportunity
to see the holiday lights illuminated for the new season.
