2000-2001 Festival of Silver Lights

You're welcome to cruise around the Hubbard Park roadway
and appreciate the special display of lit designs including
birds, animals, mammals, snowman, snowflakes and buildings.
Vehicular traffic, only, allowed throughout the evenings.

2000-2001 Indoor Swim Program

You're welcome to maintain your swimming exercise at
the Maloney High School indoor pool on Gravel Street.
Interested participants must possess a valid 2001 pool tag,
which can be obtained at the Parks and Recreation office.
(Cost $5.00 for adults, children 17 and under $1.00
Proof of Meriden residency required for purchase.)

The pool's weekly schedule will be as follows:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays ... 6:30 - 7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays ... 12:00n - 3:45pm


There is no public swim on school holidays or snow days,
unless otherwise noted. Daily updates can be found on the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line (203) 630-4279.

2000-2001 Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program

Organized recreational volleyball games for adults
ages 18 and older takes place every Tuesday night
at Lincoln Middle School from 6:00 - 9:00pm!
(Program will not run school holidays or snow days)
One-time $20.00 registration fee payable at game or

Freely watch Meriden resident teams (18 and older) compete on area courts:

Mondays and Tuesdays @ Washington Middle School, 1225 North Broad Street
Wednesdays and Thursdays @ Y.M.C.A., 110 West Main Street, Meriden

All games are at 7:00 and 8:00 PM

Connecticut Pride 'Hot Shots' Competition

The City of Meriden and the Meriden Boys and Girls Club invite
children ages 9-15 to locally participate in this statewide contest.
The following chart indicates age group registration/start times:
             Age   Registration   Competition
           9-10      3:00PM        3:15PM
          11-12      3:30PM        3:45PM
          13-15      4:00PM        4:15PM

Contestants score points by making baskets from different spots
on the Boys and Girls Club gym floor in a set amount of time. Winners will
advance to the county championship and possibly the state championship
at a Pride game in Hartford. Registration and contest info: 235-8185 or

Bernie Jurale Memorial Tradition Run

The City of Meriden and the Record-Journal present this 32nd annual event.
Registration begins at 9:30AM in the Hubbard Park maintenance facility
with the run to follow at 10:30AM. The 3.1 mile course starts in the
park and climbs an elevation of over 700 feet to its Castle Craig finish.
The first 150 participants will receive certificates and other gifts.
You're welcome to come enjoy Meriden's permier running event!
