Castle Craig

Everyone is welcome to experience some great views
from atop East Peak. The road from Hubbard Park
leading to the infamous castle / local landmark
is accessible between the hours of 10am - 4:45pm.
(note: the road closes at 2PM for Tues/Sept 9th)
However, it will be closed on inclement weather days.

Located at the corner of Coe Avenue and Hamilton Street.
The facility's hours of operation are as follows:

School Days ... 2:00pm - Dusk
Non-School Days ... 10:00am - Dusk

'Change Your Mind, Change Your Weight' Book Signing

Dr. Raeleen D'Agostino Mautner is the special host at the
Meriden Public Library where she will sign copies of her

"Great Books" Begins New Season

The Great Books Reading and Discussion Program begins its
new season at Meriden Public Library at 10:30am, today.
The group will meet on alternate Thursdays.
This is one in a year-long series of special programs
and exhibits in celebration of the library's centennial.

City Manager To Speak At Library

Meriden City Manager Roger Kemp will speak at Meriden
Public Library's Literary Lunchbox at 12 noon, today.
This free program is one in a yearlong series of special
events in celebration of the library's centennial and
everyone is welcome to attend and to bring a bag lunch.

NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick Challenge

Youths ages 8-15 are invited to test their football skills
at this yearly local competition. The free event will be
held at Ceppa Field beginning at 10:30AM. Participants
must have a parent/guardian complete a waiver and wear
sneakers. All participants receive certificates and
winners advance to the state championship in October
and possibly the team championship at a Patriots game.

2003-2004 Indoor Swim Program

The Maloney High School pool's schedule follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 6:30-7:45PM
Saturdays and Sundays: 12noon-3:45PM
(for daily updates, call 630-4279)

All interested participants must possess a valid 2003
pool pass. A pass costs $5.00 for adults and $1.00
for children ages 17 and under; they are good for
the calendar year in which they are purchased.
To receive a pass, potential recipients must bring,
in-person, proof of Meriden residency to the office of

2003 Rotary's "Hoopin' It Up"

Basketball Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to
compete in this all-day, 3-on-3 street tournament held on
Colony Street, Meriden. Teams can have 3 or 4 members.
All entrants receive shirts and winners receive trophies.
This event is held in conjunction with 'Festival on Main'.

Signing of 'Key Evidence' at Library

Meriden Public Library is hosting a special appearance by
Valerie Marcelle, author of her first novel, Key Evidence,
a murder mystery at 7:00pm, tonight. Valerie Marcelle,
partners in crime (novels) is the pseudonym of local author
Valerie Kossew Dunn and her daughter Marcelle Pichanick.
Both authors will be present to describe their collaboration,
read key passages from Key Evidence, then autograph copies
for the audience. The event is free and open to the public.
