2001 Relay For Life

The 6th Annual Meriden-Wallingford Relay for Life takes place
at the Platt High School track from 3:00pm through 3:00pm Sunday.
This event honors cancer victims and celebrates cancer survivors.
The Luminary Ceremony will be on June 1st at 10:00pm.

2001 Meriden Fishing Derby

The Meriden Rod and Gun Club invites youths ages 15 and younger
to participate in this annual challenge. This year's derby
will be held at Baldwin Pond from 10:00am-2:00pm.
There will be plenty of fish, food and prizes!

Presented by the Meriden Senior Center, this free picnic
takes place at Hubbard Park from 11:00am - 3:00pm.

Summer Sounds 2001 Concert Series

This is the kick-off date for sounds at
Hubbard Park's James J. Barry bandshell!
Tonight, acoustic guitar soloist Frank Critelli performs 6-7pm
to be followed by rockers Open Wide from 7:00-8:30pm!
Other June concerts feature the country sounds of
Aces and Eights (6/20 7-8:30pm); The City Band (6/27 7-8:30pm)
All shows are free with refreshments available for purchase.

The Meriden Elks #35 present this event at City Hall from 1:00-1:45pm.
Participants in the flag raising ceremony include Meriden state and local
politicians, city honor guards + public/parochial school essay winners.

The Meriden Police Department presents this fair at
Hubbard Park from 11:00am-3:00pm. Features include
safety demonstrations, including bicycle safety for children.

2001 Summer Playground Program

Children ages 6-14 are invited to experience fun-filled days of
games, activities, arts and crafts, and even field trips.
Playgrounds at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Habershon Park
will be open weekdays from 8:30am-3:00pm. There is no cost
(except for field trips) - registration only at playground sites.

Swim Lessons

Children ages 4 and older are welcome to take advantage of this
free service which is conducted Monday thru Fridays at Hubbard Park.
Registration will be held at the pool 10:00am Saturday, June 23rd!
Bring a valid 2001 pool tag and bathing suit and towel to register.
(Another program is from 7/9-7/20 ... registration July 7th at 10am)

2001 Summer Fun Runs

The free runs get underway starting 6:30pm at the Platt High School track
and feature a 3/4 mile race for children and a 5k race for adults.
Refreshments and prizes will be available - on your mark, get ready!
