1999 Outdoor Public Swim Program

All interested participants possessing a valid 1999 swim tag,
(obtainable at the Meriden Parks and Recreation Department office),
may use the Hubbard Park pool during the following daily schedule:

                    12:00 - 5:30 pm          Open Swim
                     5:45 - 6:45 pm          Family Swim
                     6:45 - 7:45 pm          Adult Swim

* Please note: pool open through August 29, 1999

1999 Tennis Lessons

The Meriden Parks and Recreation Department continues to provide
tennis lessons for students ages 7-14.

All classes are group lessons with an emphasis on individual attention.
Course fee is $40 per student - you must bring your own racket.
(Registration deadline was July 16, 1999)

Class A: ages 7-10 from 9:45 - 11:30 a.m.
Class B: ages 11-14 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

1999 Summer Playground Program

Operating at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Habershon Park;
children ages 6-14 are welcomed to experience fun-filled days of
games, activities, crafts and field trips. Playgrounds will be open
Monday - Friday from 8:30AM to 3:00PM. There is no cost (except field trips)
and registrations can be done at the playground sites. Be happy!

Summer Fun Runs

Starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Platt High School, Bob Parker shall direct
the city's 5K runs free and open to all ages (*right through August 18th)!

Results from the weekly races will be kept. At the conclusion of the
program, T-shirts will be awarded to the top age-group finishers.

On days involving inclement weather, participants are asked to call the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line at 630-4279 for the run
status and possible make-up dates and times. For more info, please call:

at the Puerto Rican Family Day Festival at Hubbard Park
on Sunday the 15th from 1-8pm. Rain date: August 22nd!

August 16-20, 23-27, 1999

Giuffrida Park Nature Camp

Youths ages 6-14 are invited to come learn
outdoor skills at Giuffrida Park Nature Camp.
Session 1 runs from August 16th - August 20th from 9am-12pm.
Session 2 runs from August 23rd - August 27th from 9am-12pm!
The camp is free, but interested participants must register at
the Parks and Recreation Department office before August 13th.

Meriden Land Trust

An all-volunteer group consisting of
conservationists, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts
invite you to join them at the City Engineer's office
in city hall as they meet every third Wednesday at 7p.m.

Focusing on protecting the natural habitat of Meriden
including its wetlands, wildlife habitat, trap-rock ridges
trails, farmland, historic, scenic and recreational areas;
collectively, we can all help maintain Meriden's balance
between the rural and urban aspects of the community.

Then come to the Hubbard Park Cruise Night on Tuesday!
