Indoor Public Swim

The 1999-2000 Indoor Public Swim Program at Maloney High has begun!
Interested participants must possess a valid 1999 pool tag which
are available at the Parks and Recreation Department office.
The pool's weekly schedule will be as follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays ... 6:30-7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays ... 12:00-3:45pm
(Pool is unavailable Tuesdays and Fridays)

There will be no public swim on school holidays nor snow days,
unless otherwise noted. Daily updates can be found on the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line (203) 630-4279.

Tue + Thur, November 4 - 23, 1999

1999 Turkey Hunt

Tom the Paper Turkey is hiding somewhere in Meriden,
hoping to make it through Thanksgiving without being discovered!
Children ages 5-14 are invited to try to find Tom's whereabouts
by using clues given on the Parks and Recreation Department
Activity Line (630-4279). Clues given every Tuesday and Thursday.
The first child to find Tom and bring him to the Parks and Recreation
Department will receive a Butterball turkey and other prizes.

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program

Organized recreational volleyball games for adults ages 18 and older
continues to take place at Lincoln Middle School from 6-9pm until 4/11/00.
The program will not run, however, on school holidays and snow days!
A one-time $20.00 registration fee can be paid at the program or at

Trailblazer Hiking Program

Care to explore some of the area's finest ridge lines
and see Meriden's most scenic views?
There are 2 exciting hikes this month:
        DATE       MEETING SITE                             TIME
        11/6       Hubbard Park (pool parking lot)          10:00AM
        10/13      Cathole Mtn. (end of Sam's Road)         10:00AM
Both hikes will last approximately 2.5 - 3 hours.
Hiking boots or other comfortable footwear suggested!

Meriden Men's Basketball League

Team registrations for the 1999-2000 Meriden Men's Basketball League
are being accepted from the 12th of October through the 17th of November.
The entrance fee is $450.00 per team. Games begin on November 29th and
run through early March! Meriden residents/businesses welcomed to join.

Thursdays, starting... November 11, 1999

Meriden Game Club

Boys and girls ages 7-14 are invited to learn new skills and improve
their existing skills in chess, cards and board games. The group will
meet every Thursday from 3-5pm at St. Mary's School. There's no fee to
participate and children may register for the club during program hours.
The club will not meet on holidays, school vacation days or snow days.

1999 Veterans' Day Ceremony

The Meriden United Veterans Council will present the 1999 Veterans' Day
Ceremony on Thursday the 11th at the Broad Street monuments at 11AM.
Come out and show your support for those who have sacrificed so much
to protect out country's freedom.

Festival of Silver Lights

The 1999-2000 Festival of Silver Lights will kick off on
Tuesday the 23rd of November with a special lighting ceremony
at Hubbard Park. The event will feature food, entertainment,
a surprise costume character and the chance to see this year's
holiday lights illuminated for the first time. Interested
participants are asked to meet in the Hubbard Park pool
parking lot at 6:00pm!
