2002-2003 Indoor Swim Program
Maloney High School's pool will be open for public swim:
Monday, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 6:30-7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 12:00-3:45pm
(closed holidays / snow days unless otherwise noted)

You must possess a valid 2002 tag - cost is $1.00 for
children ages 17 and under and $5.00 for adults.
Potential recipients must come in-person and bring
proof of Meriden residency to receive a pass at the

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program
Organized recreational volleyball games for adults ages 18 and
older take place at Lincoln Middle School from 6:00 - 9:00PM.
The program runs through April 8, 2003, except on
school holidays and snow days. A one-time $20.00
registration fee can be paid at the program or the

Castle Craig
Due to the late arrival of the foliage season, Castle Craig
will be open for viewing an extra week. Weather permitting,
the castle will be open daily from 10:00AM - 4:45PM.

Meriden Men's Basketball League
Team registrations for the 2002-2003 season are now accepted.
Games actually begin in December and run through next March.
Games will be played on weekday nights and the Meriden YMCA,
Washington Middle School and Lincoln Middle School. An entrance
fee of $450.00 per team is accepted at Meriden YMCA or the
Meriden Parks and Recreation, 460 Liberty St, 630-4259

Turkey Hunt
Tom the Turkey is hiding somewhere in Meriden, hoping to survive
the Thanksgiving season without being discovered! Children ages
5-12 are invited to locate Tom's whereabouts by using clues given
on the Parks and Recreation Department activity line (630-4279).
Clues will be given Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first child to
locate Tom and return him to the Parks and Recreation office will
receive a Thanksgiving turkey and other prizes. Bring Tom to

Crafts Fair
Women of the First United Methodist Church open the doors
8:00AM - 3:00PM for this special occasion. Items offered
include angel crafts of all sizes and descriptions - along
with a multitude of a variety of other crafts and clothing.
Gift baskets, including those for pets, food, babies, etc.
are also available. Even cakes, pies, cookies and other
baked goods will be on sale. Some great items have been
selected to be showcased in a Silent Auction for this day.
The FUMC cooks will also be preparing lunch for your pleasure.
Admission is free - proceeds benefit the above organization.

Veterans' Day Activities
The Meriden United Veterans Council will present the
2002 Veterans' Day Ceremony at the Stop and Shop
Veterans' Plaza (across from the Broad St monuments)
beginning at 10:30AM. The UVC will also hold a 6:00PM
cremony at the American Legion Post #45 (835 Hanover Rd).
All Meriden citizens are invited and encouraged to attend
these ceremonies. Please come show your support for those
who have sacrificed so much to protect our country's freedom.

Festival of Silver Lights
This yearly special lighting ceremony begins at 6:00PM -
interested participants are asked to meet at Hubbard Park's
pool parking lot. The event features music, entertainment,
costume characters, refreshments and the opportunity to see
this year's holiday lights illuminated for the first time.
