Indoor Swim Program
Summer may be over, but you can still swim the waters {:)!
Head on over to the Maloney High School pool:
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 6:30 - 7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays from 12 Noon - 3:45pm
There will be no public swim on school holidays
or snow days, unless otherwise noted.

2001 tag, ($1 for children 17 and under, $5 adults),

Castle Craig and Night Viewing
This is the last month to visit Castle Craig this year,
daily 10am-4:45pm, weather permitting, until the 31st.
Don't miss a special opportunity to see Meriden and the
surrounding area 'under the lights'. Weather permitting,
the castle will be open on Thursday the 4th from 7-8:30pm.

Tuesdays, October 2, 2001 - April 9, 2002
Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program
Organized recreational volleyball games for adults
ages 18 and older takes place every Tuesday night
at Lincoln Middle School from 6:00-9:00PM.
(Program doesn't run school holidays or snow days)
All paid participants will receive t-shirts.
A one-time $25.00 registration fee can be paid
at the program or at the department office of

Halloween House Decorating Contest
Meriden homes are invited to enter the 4th annual challenge.
Judging takes place on October 25th. Prizes will be awarded
in the following categories: 'Most Creative,' 'Scariest,'
and 'Best Overall'. Only outdoor entries are considered.

Trailblazer Hiking Program
You're welcome to explore some of Meriden's most scenic areas.
Hikes focus on wonderful ridge line views found around the city:

10/4 Giuffrida Park (parking lot) 4:00pm
10/11 Mount Higby (end of Preston Ave) 4:00pm
10/18 Hubbard Park (pool parking lot) 4:00pm
10/25 Beseck Mountain (Black Pond parking lot) 4:00pm
All treks last approximately 1.5-2.0 hours. Hiking boots or other
comfortable footwear is suggested. A special mystery event will be
held for participants at the conclusion of the program in late October.

The Meriden Lions Club presents this 3rd annual event
at Washington Park starting at 9:30am. Children ages
9-16 will be competing. This is your opportunity
to see what 'life in the fast lane' is all about.

Autumn Fest 2001
The place: Hubbard Park ... the time: 1:00 - 4:00pm.
This fun-filled day of family entertainment includes
hayrides, face painters, balloon artists, magicians,
children's gmaes, dramatic presentations of park
'legends', a jack-o-lantern contest, music,
refreshments and lots of nature's fall foliage.
(Rain date will be next Sunday, October 21st)

Meriden Men's Basketball League
Team registrations for the 2001-2002 MMBL will be
accepted during this time period. The games will
actually be played weekday nights beginning in late
November through early March at the Meriden YMCA and
Washington Middle School. Entrance fee is $450 per team.

Musical Entertainment
Classical guitarist Louis Ramao will perform at Gallery 53,
Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden at 53 Colony Street.
The performance is open to the public at no cost starting at 2pm.
Special guest Ken Nigro will also perform on flute and saxophone.

Halloween At City Hall
Get an early start to trick-or-treating by attending
the 4th Annual Halloween at Meriden's City Hall.
City Hall departments will distribute candy to
costumed tick-or-treaters from 3:00-5:00pm.
