2000 Outdoor Public Swim Program

It's that time of year again!!!
You must have a valid 2000 swim tag
available at the Parks and Rec office.
Pool's daily schedule is as follows:
12:00-6:30pm ..... Open Swim
6:45-7:45pm ..... Adult Swim

Mondays - Fridays, July - August 11, 2000

2000 Summer Playground Program

Operating at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Habershon Park,
children ages 6-14 are invited to experience fun-filled days
of games, activities, crafts, and yes, even field trips!
The playgrounds are open 8:30am - 3:00pm. There's no cost
(except for field trips). Register only at playground sites.

Wednesdays, July - August 9th, 2000

2000 Summer Fun Runs

These free runs at the Platt High School track get underway
at 6:30pm and feature a 3/4 mile race for children and a
5k race for adults. Refreshments and prizes are available.

Independence Day Fireworks

Look ... up in the sky ... towards the castle ...
it's Meriden's 2000 colorful, bang blasting show
(accompanied with real professional symphonic tunes)
starting around 9:00pm at Hubbbard Park.
(Raindate is Tuesday, July 4th)

Summer Sounds 2000 Concert Series

The musical entertainment continues with 2 performances:
Brian Cyr Quartet from 5:30-7:15pm and then the
Meriden Symphony Orchestra from 7:30pm - Fireworks.
... but that's not all for this month ...
Leo Boogie and the Romeo Kings (New Orleans Funk)
shall be on stage Wednesday the 5th from 7-8:30pm
Party Line (R&B and more) the 12th from 7-8:30pm
102nd Army Band performs for you from 7-8:30pm on the 19th
and Gonkus Brothers & the County Line Band
(Bluegrass and Irish Folk) appears on the 26th from 7-8:30pm!
Shows take place in the James J. Barry Bandshell, Hubbard Park.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Swim Lessons

The second session of free swim lessons takes place at
the Hubbard Park pool from July 10th through July 21st!
Children ages 4 and older are invited to learn basic
swim technique or improve upon their existing strokes.
Registration for lessons is at the park at 10:00am today.
Bring a bathing suit, towel and valid 2000 pool pass!

3rd Annual Hubbard Park Cruise Night

Car enthusiasts are invited to look around from 5:00-8:30pm.
Co-sponsored by Classic Cars of America, this event will
feature plenty of food, music and antique automobiles!
Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 200 classic cars.
The raindate for this gathering is Tuesday, July the 25th.

Meriden Raiders Junior Football Registration

Interested football players and cheerleaders are asked to meet at
the Pete Sini Fieldhouse (north end of Washington Park) between
the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm. Football players must be at least
7 years old but not past 15 years old by August 1, 2000 ... AND ...
weigh at least 45 lbs but no more tha 154 pounds! Meanwhile,
Cheerleaders must be between the agest of 8 and 15. Registration fee:
$75.00 per football player; $65.00 for each cheerleader.
