Indoor Swim Program
Maloney High School's pool will be open for public swim:
Monday, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 6:30-7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays: 12:00-3:45pm
(closed holidays / snow days unless otherwise noted)

You must possess a valid 2003 tag - cost is $1.00 for

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program
Organized recreational volleyball games for adults ages 18 and
older take place at Lincoln Middle School from 6:00 - 9:00PM.
The program runs through April 8, 2003, except on
school holidays and snow days. A one-time $20.00
registration fee can be paid at the program or the

V.I.T.A. at Public Library
Taxpayers who can not afford professional assistance or who
have federal and/or state tax questions may get free help and
answers through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
The sessions are hosted by the Meriden Public Library and held
in its Friends Room located at the side of the 105 Miller Street
building every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30pm and every Saturday
from 10:00am to 1:00pm. The last session is Saturday, April 12.
V.I.T.A. volunteers alert taxpayers to special credits and
deductions for which they may be eligible. People interested in
attending the V.I.T.A. program should bring this year's tax
package, wage and earnings statements (W2), interest statements
from their banks, and a copy of their previous year's tax return.
In addition, people must also bring a photo I.D. showing their
current address and a social security card or number. If a joint
return is desired, both taxpayers must be present. For info, call

Valentine's Day Card Contest
Grades K-5 students are invited to enter!!!
All winners will receive a special prize package.

Bowling Basics
Children ages 5-14 are invited to participate in a new
program designed to teach first-timers how to bowl correctly
and improve the techniques of those whom may have already
knocked down a strike or two. This 12 week winter program
is conducted at 4:00pm every Wednesday through April 23rd at
Brunswick Super Bowl Lanes. 1300 South Main St., in Plantsville.
If Wednesday afternoon fills up, there wil be a spill-over
program available on Saturdays at 9:30am starting Feb. 9th.
The weekly cost of $6.00 per child is payable at the bowling
center and includes: 2 games of bowling, use of rental shoes
and lightweight balls, instruction assistance, a trophy program.
Pre-registration is required - first come, first served for teams.

Liberty Belles
Anne Pasquale presents this theatrical look at immigration to Meriden
at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, 175 East Main Street at 2:00pm.
This event is open to the public and is the third in the Centennial
Lecture Series commemorating the 100th anniversary of the

Winter Activities
Basketball Clinic: Children ages 8-13 are invited
to 'brush-up' on their individual basketball skills. The
clinic will be held at Israel Putnam School each weekday
expcept Wednesday. The 8-10 age group will meet from
9:30-10:30AM and those 11-13 meet from 11AM-12NOON.
Basic fundamentals such as ball-handling, passing, and
rebounding will be covered. The cost for interested
participants is $5.00 - space is extremely limited, so
please register at the Parks and Recreation office, soon!
Hartford Wolfpack trip: What would winter vacation
be without hockey? On Friday, February 21st, don't miss a
chance to see the state's two professional hockey teams as
the Hartford Wolfpack and Bridgeport Sound Tigers square off
at the Civic Center in a 7:00PM game. The bus leaves Maloney
High School Gravel St. front lot at 6:00PM. The cost is $20.00,
which includes transportation, admission, and a soda and hot dog/
pizza slice. If you're interested, register by the 18th at the

Watkins To Sign Copies of 'A Change of Heart'
Jermaine W. Watkins, author of A Change of Heart, will make a
special appearance for free booksignings starting at 7:00pm.

in a year long series of special events and exhibits in

Meriden Public Library is hosting a slide presentation called
'Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda'. Guest speakers for the 2:00pm
program are Dr. Milton Clark and Mrs. Wendy Clark.

sponsored by the Southern Connecticut Library Council.
