Indoor Public Swim

The 1999-2000 Indoor Public Swim Program at Maloney High continues!
Interested participants must possess a valid 2000 pool tag which
is available at the Parks and Recreation Department office.
The pool's weekly schedule is as follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays ... 6:30-7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays ... 12:00-3:45pm
(Pool is normally unavailable Tuesdays and Fridays)

Important April Dates:

The public swim program will follow a special spring vacation schedule!
The Maloney pool will be open from 1-3:45pm from the 17th - 20th; while
the pool is closed April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 29th and April 30th 2000.

There will be no public swimming available on school holidays,
unless otherwise noted. Daily updates can be found on the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line (203) 630-4279.

Tuesdays, April 2000

Co-Ed Adult Volleyball Program

Organized recreational volleyball games for adults ages 18 and older
continues to take place at Lincoln Middle School from 6-9pm until 4/11/00.
The program will not run, however, on school holidays and snow days!
A one-time $20.00 registration fee can be paid at the program or at

Thursdays, April 2000

Meriden Game Club

Boys and girls ages 7-14 are invited to learn new skills and improve
their existing skills in chess, cards and board games. The group will
meet every Thursday from 3-5pm at St. Mary's School. There's no fee to
participate and children may register for the club during program hours.
The club will not meet on holidays, school vacation days or snow days.

Saturday April 8, 2000

2000 World Tai Chi Day

The public is invited to visit Hubbard Park at 10am to participate
in a worldwide celebration of Tai Chi. Group demonstrations and
individucal instructions will be provided by Central Connecticut
Tai Chi Ch'uan. This free event will take place in the parking
lot across from the pool. For more info, please call 235-5703.

Meriden Land Trust

An all-volunteer group consisting of
conservationists, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts
invite you to join them at the City Engineer's office
in city hall as they meet every second Wednesday at 7p.m.

Focusing on protecting the natural habitat of Meriden
including its wetlands, wildlife habitat, trap-rock ridges
trails, farmland, historic, scenic and recreational areas;
collectively, we can all help maintain Meriden's balance
between the rural and urban aspects of the community.

Spring Dance Camp

Nothing to do over spring vacation? Come explore the exciting
world of dance at Miss Laura's School of Dance, 491 West Main Street.
Children ages 5 and older are invited daily from 10-11am to learn
tap, ballet, jazz and other dance steps - and participation is FREE
but students must register from April 3rd - 14th by calling the

Come experience Hubbard Park 'in bloom' during a
hike to Castle Craig. Interested participants are
asked to meet in the pool parking lot at 2:00pm.
Protective clothing and hiking boots are suggested.

2000 Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny will be at the Hubbard Park bandshell to give children
an early start to their hopping Easter egg collecting this year.
Children ages 1-5 hunt for eggs at 10:30am, those 6 and older at 11:45.
All children are invited to a special magic show featuring
Neato the Clown at 11:00am in the bandshell!

Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30, 2000

22nd Annual Meriden Daffodil Festival

The big event takes place 10am - 9pm the 29th and 10am-5pm the 30th
at Hubbard Park and features amusement rides, continuous musical
entertainment, a parade, a craft fair, fireworks, special events,
demonstrations, over 40 different food vendors and 599,999+ daffodils!
Some of the prominent pre-festival and festival events will include:

                      4/22        - Meridian Lodge Antique Show (10-4)
                      4/26        - Little Miss Daffodil (6:30pm)
