Participants wearing a valid 1999 swim tag may use the pool on:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 7:45pm
plus Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 - 3:45pm thru *June 13, 1999.
Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

1999 Meriden Fishing Derby
The City of Meriden and the Meriden Rod and Gun Club will present the
1999 Meriden Fishing Derby at Hubbard Park on Sunday, 6th from 11AM-1PM.
Children 15 and under are invited to fish in Mirror Lake and win prizes.

It's the first annual session - held at City Hall for your benefit!
Information regarding City of Meriden programs, sports camps and other
non-profit camps and activities will be available in the Council Chambers
which is room 206 at the East Main Street building from 7 to 8PM.

The Meriden Senior Center will present this special
Saturday event at Hubbard Park from 11AM - 3PM.
Senior citizens are invited to the free picnic also

1999 Flag Day Ceremony
The City of Meriden and the Meriden Elks #35 will present the
1999 Flag Day Ceremony at City Hall on Monday, June 14th from 1-2PM.
Participants in this flag raising ceremony include Meriden
state and local politicians, city honor guards, essay winners from
Meriden public and parochial schools and the Maloney High School Allegretos.
A reception will be held at the Meriden Elks #35 (120 East Main Street)
immediately following the ceremony.

Meriden Silver Fins Summer Sign-Up Night
Registration for the 1999 summer Silver Fins will be held at
the Platt High School pool on Monday, June 14th from 6-8PM.
The summer season lasts 6 weeks and is open to youths ages 5+.

Summer Sounds '99 Concert Series
The musical kick off takes place at Hubbard Park's James J. Barry Bandshell:
Wednesday the 16th: Whiskey River Band from 6:30 - 8:30PM.
Additional concerts are also scheduled here ...
Thursday the 17th: Backwoods from 7:00 - 8:30PM.
Saturday the 19th: Cuzz Band from 6:30 - 8:00PM.
Tuesday the 22nd: Patti and the Guys from 7:00 - 8:30PM.
Oh yes, refreshments will be sold at all shows :)

Meriden Land Trust
An all-volunteer group consisting of
conservationists, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts
invite you to join them at the City Engineer's office
in city hall as they meet every third Wednesday at 7p.m.
Focusing on protecting the natural habitat of Meriden
including its wetlands, wildlife habitat, trap-rock ridges
trails, farmland, historic, scenic and recreational areas;
collectively, we can all help maintain Meriden's balance
between the rural and urban aspects of the community.

The public is invited to experience African-American
food, crafts and entertainment from 12-8PM at Hubbard Park.

1999 Outdoor Public Swim Program
All interested participants possessing a valid 1999 swim tag,
(obtainable at the Meriden Parks and Recreation Department office),
may use the Hubbard Park pool during the following daily schedule:
12:00 - 5:30 pm Open Swim
5:45 - 6:45 pm Family Swim
6:45 - 7:45 pm Adult Swim
* Please note: the pool will not open until 2:00pm on June 21, 22 and 23!

'Fight Night' at Ceppa Field
The Silver City Boxing Club will present a night of boxing at
Ceppa Field on Saturday, June 26th beginning at 7:30PM.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 14 and under.
In case of rain, the event will be held in the Platt High School gym.

Swim Lessons
Free swim lessons for children ages 4 and older will be held
Monday - Friday from 6/28 thru 7/9 and from 7/12 thru 7/23/99.
Registrations are held at the Hubbard Park pool (10AM) 6/26 and 7/10.
Children must have: valid 1999 pool pass, bathing suit and towel to register.

June 28 - August 13, 1999
1999 Summer Playground Program
Operating at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Habershon Park;
children ages 6-14 are welcomed to experience fun-filled days of
games, activities, crafts and field trips. Playgrounds will be open
Monday - Friday from 8:30AM to 3:00PM. There is no cost (except field trips)
and registrations can be done at the playground sites. Be happy!

Summer Fun Runs
Each Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Platt High School,
Bob Parker shall direct the city's 5K runs free and open to all ages!
Results from the weekly races will be kept. At the conclusion of the
program, T-shirts will be awarded to the top age-group finishers.
On days involving inclement weather, participants are asked to call the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line at 630-4279 for the run
status and possible make-up dates and times. For more info, please call:
