Indoor Public Swim

The 1999-2000 Indoor Public Swim Program at Maloney High continues!
Interested participants must possess a valid 2000 pool tag which
is available at the Parks and Recreation Department office.
The pool's weekly schedule is as follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays ... 6:30-7:45pm
Saturdays and Sundays ... 12:00-3:45pm
(Pool is unavailable Tuesdays and Fridays)

There will be no public swimming available on school holidays,
unless otherwise noted. Daily updates can be found on the
Parks and Recreation Department Activity Line (203) 630-4279.

Trailblazer Hiking Program

Care to explore some of Meriden's most beautiful areas?
Hikes will take place on May 11th, 18th and 25th;
starting at 4pm and lasting approximately 2 hours!
Information on hike locations will be posted on the
Parks and Rec activity line (630-4279) beginning 1 week
prior to the day of the hike. Hiking boots recommended.

Meriden Land Trust

An all-volunteer group consisting of
conservationists, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts
invite you to join them at the City Engineer's office
in city hall as they meet every second Wednesday at 7p.m.

Focusing on protecting the natural habitat of Meriden
including its wetlands, wildlife habitat, trap-rock ridges
trails, farmland, historic, scenic and recreational areas;
collectively, we can all help maintain Meriden's balance
between the rural and urban aspects of the community.

2000 Hershey Track and Field Competition

The City of Meriden and the Meriden Boys and Girls Club
invite youths ages 9-14 to participate in the local
competition of the Hershey Track and Field Youth Program.
The event will be held at the Platt High School track.
Registration 9:45-10:15am, competition begins at 10:30am.
All participants will receive prizes and refreshments
Event winners may qualify for the July state championship!

Friday & Saturday, May 19-20, 2000

2000 Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society will present the
2000 Relay for Life at the Platt HS track
from 3pm Friday the 19th through 3pm the 20th!
Relay for Life honors cancer victims and
celebrates cancer survivors. All proceeds
from this even wil benefit cancer research.
Call the American Cancer Society at 234-3900
to obtain any participation information.

2000 Meriden Memorial Day Parade

The City of Meriden and Meriden United Veterans Council
present the 2000 Meriden Memorial Day Parade at 10:00AM.
The parade begins at the intersection of Broad and Curtis,
proceeds on Broad Street to East Main Street, turn down
East Main Street and finish at the City Hall building!
There will then be a brief ceremony at City Hall.
Individuals or groups wishing to march in the parade
are asked to please call (203) 630-4259.
