The City of Meriden offers skating at Mirror Lake in Hubbard Park
and sledding plus cross-country skiing at Hunter Memorial Golf Course.
Interested participants are asked to call our activity line for
daily updates on the conditions at the above locations.

Participants wearing a valid 1999 swim tag may use the pool on:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 7:45pm
plus Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 - 3:45pm thru June 13, 1999.
Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

challenge each other at Lincoln Middle School.
Games began December 3 and last through early March.

January 9, 1999

[CT Pride, City of Meriden, YMCA, Parks and Rec]
Connecticut Pride 'Hot Shots' Competition

The City of Meriden and the Meriden YMCA invite
children ages 7-15 to participate in the local
Meriden competition of this statewide challenge.

The contest takes place at the Meriden YMCA, 110 West Main Street.
Registration and warm-ups begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9th;
while the actual competition gets under way at 2:00 p.m. that day.

Contestants score points by making baskets from
different spots on the gym floor in a set amount of time.
Winners in the 9-15 years-old divisions will advance to county championships
and possibly the state championship at a Pride game in Hartford.
There is no entry fee to participate; however, you must register before
the contest at the YMCA. For additional info, please call 235-6386 or ...

Meriden Land Trust

An all-volunteer group consisting of
conservationists, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts
invite you to join them at the City Engineer's office
in city hall as they meet every third Wednesday at 7p.m.

Focusing on protecting the natural habitat of Meriden
including its wetlands, wildlife habitat, trap-rock ridges
trails, farmland, historic, scenic and recreational areas;
collectively, we can all help maintain Meriden's balance
between the rural and urban aspects of the community.

[30th Annual Meriden / R-J Traditional Run]
30th Annual Bernie Jurale Memorial Tradition Run

The Tradition Run, a premiere running event presented
by the City of Meriden and the Record-Journal,
has a long history of being a non-competitive event.
Contestants enjoy competing against the challenge of
the Hanging Hills rather than the clock!
The 3.1 mile course begins in Hubbard Park and climbs
an elevation of over 700 feet to finish at Castle Craig.

Registration for the race begins at 9:30am at the
Hubbard Park mainenance facility. The race starts at 10:30am.
There is no fee to enter. Participants receive certificates, patches
and a special 30th anniversary gift. In addtion, several lottery prizes
will be awarded and support services will be offered to the runners.
