2002 Summer Playground Program

Operating at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Haberson Park,
children ages 6-13 are invited to experience fun-filled
days of games, activities, crafts, and field trips.
The playgrounds are open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm.
There is no cost except for the field trips.
Interested paarticipants must follow a new process
for registration. A $1.00 photo ID card must be
purchased at the Parks and Recreation office, and
an information form must be completed by a
parent/guardian at the playground site.

The pool's daily schedule is as follows:

Located at the corner of Park Avenue and Franklin Street,
children (and even adults are seen taking advantage) may
enjoy cooling off while getting 'surprisingly' water sprayed
Monday-Saturdays 11:00am-5:00pm and Sundays 2:00-5:00pm!

This new opportunity is located on the corner of
Coe Avenue and Hamilton Street and is open daily
from 10:00am - dusk. Bring your roller blades, and
for safety, please don't forget the pads and helmet!

A new schedule takes effect today ...
On school days, the facility will be open, weather permitting,
from 2:00pm - dusk; on non-school days, 10:00am - dusk.
The skatepark closes for the season on October 31st!

Tuesdays and Fridays, August 2002

Shaping Up Faster

Walkers, joggers and runners of all ages and abilities
are invited to improve their movement skills this summer.
Sessions are held from 9:00-10:00am at the Platt High
School track under the direction of former track coach
Roy Gooding. Instructions and insight will be offered
on how to improve your technique and maximize work-outs.
The program is free of charge and open to all residents.
It will not be held on inclement weather days.

of tennis. Lessons will be held at Washington Park from

Silver City Skate-Off

The Meriden YMCA and the City of Meriden present this
first ever event in conjunction with the dedication
of the Meriden Skatepark. Skateboarders ages 8 and older
are invited to showcase their skills for bragging rights
as the city's top skaters. Registration takes place
from 9:00-10:30am with the competition to follow at
11:00am. The skatepark will be formally dedicated at
10:30am. Skaters must sign a waiver and pay a $3.00
entry fee. Skaters will have a 2 minute session to
display their moves. Trophies will be awarded to
the top skaters in the following brackets:
8-11 years old, 12-15 years old, and age 16+.
