Summer Activities Registration
Registration for summer tennis lessons and the four
Meriden Nature Camp sessions will now be accepted.
These programs have extremely limited openings, so
please register early. Application forms for the
Silver City Fundamental Football Camp, the Hot Shot
Basketball Camp, and the Dig This Volleyball Camp

2002 Meriden Fishing Derby
The Meriden Rod and Gun Club invites youths
age 15 and under to participate in this event.
This year's derby will be held at Baldwin Pond
from 10:00am - 1:00pm. There will be plenty
of fish, food, and oh yes ... prizes!

32nd Annual Special Day for Special People
The Meriden Senior Center presents this special
event from 11:00am - 3:00pm at Hubbard Park.
Senior citizens are invited to this free
picnic featuring food, activities, bingo
and entertainment. Rain date Sunday the 9th.

The City of Meriden and the Meriden Elks #35
present this event starting at 2:00pm.
Participants in the flag raising ceremony
include state and local politicians,
city honor guards, and essay winners
from Meriden public and parochial schools.

12th Annual Meriden Black Expo
You're invited to enjoy any of the following:
fashion show, children's games, gospel music groups,
commercial vendors, ethnic foods, area church choirs,
carnival style amusements, suprise special guest artist.
They all take place at Hubbard Park from 12-8pm!

The pool's daily schedule is as follows:
12:00 - 6:30pm Open Swim
6:45 - 7:45pm Adult Swim

2002 Summer Fun Runs
The free runs get underway at the Platt High School
track weekly at 6:30pm and feature a 3/4 mile race
for children and a 5K race for adults.
Refreshments and prizes will be available.

Summer Sounds 2002 Concert Series
Acoustic guitarist Frank Critelli will take the
James J. Barry bandshell stage at Hubbard Park
from 6:00-6:40pm to be followed by the country group
Cindy Lou and the Cactus Creek Band from 7:00-8:30pm.
Concerts are free; refreshments available for sale.

Monday - Friday, June 24 - July 5, 2002
Swim Lessons
Registration for children age 4 and older
will be held at Hubbard Park pool at 10:00am
on Saturday June 22. Children must have a
valid 2002 pool pass and bring a bathing suit
and towel to register. Another registration
date of Saturday July 6 at 10:00am is set for
the July 8th through 19th lesson sessions.

Southern rockers the Whiskey River Band perform on the
James J. Barry bandshell stage at Hubbard Park from 7:00-8:30pm.
The concert is free; refreshments are available for sale.

2002 Summer Playground Program
Operating at Washington Park, Ceppa Field and Haberson Park,
children ages 6-13 are invited to experience fun-filled
days of games, activities, crafts, and field trips.
The playgrounds are open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm.
There is no cost except for the field trips.
Interested paarticipants must follow a new process
for registration. A $1.00 photo ID card must be
purchased at the Parks and Recreation office, and
an information form must be completed by a
parent/guardian at the playground site.
